WELLNESS LIVING
TECH PILOTS
BY MATHER INSTITUTE
Wellness Living Tech Pilots by Mather Institute is a new initiative designed to explore how various technologies can support residents’ everyday wellness. The Institute will pilot different technologies at The Mather (Evanston, IL) and The Mather (Tysons, VA), focused on helping residents sleep better, relax more easily, move more, and eat healthier. During the pilots, residents will participate in surveys and interviews to help explore usability and residents’ impressions of the technology.
Enrollment is open from July 1–July 31 to pilot Sensate, GenoPalate, and/or Grip Strength devices. If you’re interested in trying these technologies, scroll down to learn more and sign up.
UPCOMING TECHNOLOGIES
SENSATE | RELAX WELL
ENROLLMENT DATES: July 1–31
Sensate works by using gentle, low-frequency vibrations from a device placed on your chest, combining it with soundscapes to stimulate the vagus nerve, activating the parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) system. It activates your body’s natural relaxation response, toning the nerve to lower stress and reduce anxiety. Wear this gentle vibration device for 10 minutes per day.
GENOPALATE | EAT WELL
ENROLLMENT DATES: JULY 1–31
Provide a cheek swap to receive personalized dietary guidance based on your genetic profile. The sample needed for this pilot should be dropped in the mail by September 2 for residents at The Mather (Evanston, IL), and September 8 for residents at The Mather (Tysons, VA).
GRIP STRENGTH | MOVE WELL
ENROLLMENT DATES: JULY 1–31
Participants will receive a grip strength assessment tool to monitor changes in their grip strength over time, as well as simple exercise tools that can be incorporated into a regular strengthening routine.
