Senior Living for the Next Generation Volumes I & II

Senior Living for the Next Generation, Volume I – A View Through the Lens of the Experienced Adult Child marks the first release of a two-phase research project. This report provides an insightful glimpse into the mindset of “experienced” adult children within the older age cohort of the Baby Boomers (age 56 to 64) and the younger age cohort of the Silent Generation (65 to 74), who have a parent or loved one currently residing in a senior living community.

Senior Living for the Next Generation is based on an extensive study of 1,065 adult children of residents living in independent living, assisted living, memory care, and nursing care settings. This 56-page report explores the attitudes and perceptions regarding the adult child’s retirement years, preparedness for retirement, and characteristics that the senior living community of the future must provide in order to be attractive to the next generation. Senior Living for the Next Generation, Volume II — A View Through The Lens of Industry Thought Leaders, summarizes findings from a major new survey of over 1,000 industry executives, financiers and other professionals, and Executive Directors. The 68 page report compares findings from industry thought leaders to the results of a survey of adult children of existing seniors housing residents (published as Volume I) and includes commentaries from four organizations that are dedicated to the issues of aging but not involved with the provision of seniors housing.
